Your donations
With your donation, you are funding our research to find medical treatments that could attenuate the effects of Fragile X (FX) and many other neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative conditions. You are also helping people today with their everyday life challenges caused by the intellectual disabilities such as to Fragile X, Autism (ASD), Down syndrome, Prader-Willi syndrome and many more brings.
The Gene Works mission is to research genetic conditions and support those affected by intellectual disabilities both directly and their families. We are researching the genetic side of the condition and using cutting-edge gene-editing techniques such as CRISPR we are working on 3 main areas. We are building a better screening and detection process. We are working on a way to stimulate the dormant genes to produce the missing proteins, and we trying to work out if it would be possible to “correct” any damaged DNA for good.
This research is complex and discoveries may be a long way off, and as we want to help today, we are also delivering real tangible benefits to all intellectual disabilities via our Community project. The Community team are developing and publishing Free digital online resources that are designed to assist in the support of those directly affected. They are a guide, hints and tips for care givers, families, guardians, schools and other charities to help with communication, education, behavioural challenges, sensory needs, routines, life skills, fun and games! Our community project is an exciting online library that brings together years of knowledge and experience in a bite size and easily consumable way. Our community project and our research are a symbiotic relationship that bring unique offerings because of each other.
Gene research is an expensive activity and your donations help hugely. An important thing to remember is that 100% of your donation is used in the pursuit of our Research or Community work. The Thank You Fund and 3x return on donation is not offered by Gene Works the charity. It is entirely an intention of a UK Limited company that we have a close partnership with, because we share the same founder and CEO. Gene Works the charity will pay nothing out to you the donor! Our partner intends on building a fund from their revenue and inviting you to decide what you would like to do with those funds. Withdraw it knowing that you have help millions of people. Withdraw some of it and gift the rest to us, or gift 100% to us. The choice will be yours, but not until we have a breakthrough and the intellectual disabilities we set out to help are benefiting.
We’re not stopping there!
In the future, with your support and our genetic expertise, we plan to expand our research to many more conditions in both intellectual disabilities and the wider medical field. We also have further Community based project outside of our digital library.
