The intention…
The Thank You Fund is not part of Gene Works the charity, it is an intention of our partner and not ours to promise! Your donation is to Gene Works the charity (us) and 100% of your donation is used by us for our mission.
The first thing to understand is that there are two types of money potentially coming into Gene Works the charity. One is from donations and the other is revenue which would be from our research discoveries and licenses. It is very important to know that it is IMPOSSIBLE for any of Gene Works charity’s money to ever be paid into the Thank You Fund and so every penny of donation money is spent on Gene Works the charity’s operations. Donations are to us the UK charity and are protected by law and therefore you can donate knowing your money is being spent on the good work we do. So now you know that we can now look at how the Thank You fund works.
Medical discovery while being expensive in the research phase does offer big financial returns IF a breakthrough is made and a medical license is achieved. Gene Works the charity has partnered with a UK-limited company who will work with us and will build the Thank You Fund from their revenues NOT from ours.
In order to receive a Thank You invite from our partner, you must be an active subscribed donor of Gene Works charity and you must have been donating for at least 12 months.
You will receive your Thank You Fund invite via email and will need to log into your Gene Works portal to action this. You will have the opportunity to withdraw from your account the Thank You balance or you will have the option to administer it as you would like. This might be 100% withdrawal, 100% donation to Gene Works charity, or any percentage split you would like.
Our partner is quite possibly the only organisation in the world that intends to build a Thank You fund, and we are happy to share our success back with you, and thanks to your support.
Gene Works charity will always have further research to conduct as there are over 7000+ X-linked conditions and intellectual learning disabilities. We believe that breakthroughs in one will help many and our discoveries will apply in theory to many more. We listen to our donors and they will tell us what conditions are important to them so we see a future where we are researching multiple conditions at the same time. It may be that Thank You Fund invites could happen periodically as we make discoveries in different areas and our partner builds the Thank You Fund back up. But it is important to remember that Gene Works charity will always be the beneficiary as we receive your donation support now to run our projects and we will also always benefit the most from a discovery that will empower us to do more and more good for more and more people globally.
The Thank You Fund is an intention from our partner and not a loan, not an investment and not contractual financial agreement. Your donation is a donation to a charity pure and simple.

It really is that simple. We can do the research only because of our donations. It’s your donation that helps us to help others! So if we crack it our partner wants to share that success with you. But it doesn’t have to stop there. We will start research projects into other conditions and with your ongoing support, we can do it all again!
